Feb 6, 2014

The iconic Ford F-150 has been the bestselling vehicle and truck in a span of 32 and 42 -years, respectively. Ford has kept its promise with its F-150 forging true power, style and affordability to lure American drivers to own a new truck.

However, the upcoming 2015 F-150 model with its aluminum body may costs you added 10% hike in their insurance premiums as insurance company view it as a liability.

There are around 30,000 independent auto body repair shops in the U.S., but the Automotive Service Association (ASA) states that only 10% are qualified to work on aluminum body vehicles. So basically, around 3,000 auto body repair shops are eligible for the repair if ever an owner was involved in a car accident, for the insurance company finding these repair shops may add extra costs.

Car insurance providers must pass this additional cost down to the policy holders in order to make up for the lost money.

On the other hand, the 2015 F-150’s aluminum body will give you an equally or more than that 10-percent insurance premiums –as the new design promises improved gas mileage.

In the end, you’ll pay more insurance premium but you’ll save money on gas —-so better weigh this factors before making a purchase of the new Ford F-150.
