2013 Le Mans racer unveiled by Toyota

Feb 21, 2013

A few days ago, Toyota Racing announced that its new TS030 Hybrid racer is set for the World Endurance Championship and will begin testing at the Paul Richard circuit. Last year, two TS030s made an appearance at the Le Mans, participating in the LMP1 class. Although they were able to hold their own against most of the competitors, specifically the dominant Audi R18s, they were not very much successful winning it all. Hopefully they will be able to perform better this year.

Under the hood, the TS030 Hybrid runs on a 530bhp 3.4 liter, normally aspirated V8 engine paired with a 300bhp, super capacitor-based electric motor. Compared to last year’s model, the latest beast from Toyota Racing is said to feature better overall performance, reliability and serviceability. On the outside, the TS030 also gets a redesigned aerodynamic package, featuring an updated monocoque to counteract new regulations regarding entrant minimum weight.

Drivers Alex Wurz, Nicolas Lapierre and Kazuki Nakajima will man car#7 while Anthony Davidson, Stephane Sarrazin and Sebastien Buemi will drive car#8 for Toyota.
