VUHL takes on Mastretta as Mexico’s top sports car brand

Mar 13, 2013

In the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed in Mexico, the world is set to welcome the country’s second sports car company as VUHL (pronounced “vool”) plans to announce its first creation, the 05. This is set to go face-to-face with Mastretta’s MXT which was announced in 2007 and sports a 2.3 liter Toyota Camry engine.

Details on the sports car are very scarce, with only one photograph being released to the public. What we do know, however, is that the 05’s handling will be optimized in the United Kingdom, its body will be fabricated in Canada and its chassis production and final assembly will be completed in Mexico.

According to Iker Echeverria, head of 05’s development along with the Mexican government and brother Guillermo, “We intend VUHL products to be renowned for their effective simplicity and aesthetics guided by a purity of function.” He also said that the 05 and its successors will be notable for uncompromising build quality, rigorous attention to detail and excellent driving experience.

The 05 is set to be finished by the second quarter of 2013. Until then, we’ll just have to wait and see whether or not the VUHL 05 will make Mexico a formidable force in the sports car world.
